The water, the air and the other materials that maintain the body functioning properly are still part of the Crown of Aragon, with wine made from Grenache grapes.
The bloodiest battle of the Spanish Civil War.
One of the last but most important offensive actions of the whole civil war by the Republican (Franco) military resulted in 115 days of non-stop battles fought in this region. The result was not only the destruction of entire forests, bombed out villages, but also kilometres of trenches, farms and orchards littered with shrapnel and thousands of dead soldiers. The nearby Museum of the Civil War in Gandesa is a thought-provoking reminder of that terrible war and it’s aftermath.
